Rainbow Swirl Patchwork Quilting Class This striking, colorful quilt is a great introduction to patchwork. Look closely and you will see that it made from 2 repeating blocks set in a checkerboard arrangement! In this class you will learn how to cut patchwork shapes from strips of cloth using both the rotary cutter and acrylic templates. The striking coloration comes from the hand dyed fabrics used for this project. All class fabric is pre-washed and ready for use. Kit is available in 3 color combinations. If you look at this quilt, and think it is difficult, you should take this class before you can take the Vivid Dahlia class. It is optional for you to bring 1 - 3 yards of quality solid color fabric (or quality solid color of your choice) It MUST be pre-wash and ironed and ready for use, folded to 4 layers on the length wise grain Perfect Patchwork Template Set A from Marti Michell is used in the class. If you own them , you are welcome to bring them, with your NAME on them! Plenty of template sets will be available for use, and when you fall in love with them, you can buy them in class, but purchase is not required. $15.00 Just F.Y.I. 3 yards is plenty for blocks, but not borders and binding, 6 yards is just enough for blocks, borders and bindings, but not backing. The actual usage in class is right at a yard, unless you are very fast! In class we plan on only finishing 4 blocks, 2 of each style used in quilt. Again, if you are fast you can finish more! Here, in my studio, our cutting table is 3 yards long, so we cut 3 yard lenghts. ALL class kit fabirc is pre-washed . My rule of thumb is pre wash everything, or nothing. Because all of the hand dyed fabrics are pre-washed, any other fabric must also be pre-washed! OTHER SUPPLIES: Sewing Machine, sewing supplies, rotary cutter with new blade, cutting mat, min. 18 inches, basic ruler 3 X 19 or 6 X 24 inches. irons and ironing surface. This is a minimum 6 hour class. Check with facility (the shop, retreat manager or convention) where the class is being offered to confirm the details about supplies. For example most conventions have sewing machines, but at a retreat you need to bring your own. Also confirm with facility about food service during 6 hour min. length class. Is it B.Y.O.
